FRACTIONS (Part 1) - REVIEW OF FRACTIONS

Come learn about fractions. Define proper and improper fractions. Understand where fractions exist on a number line, and learn why common denominators matter.

 

FRACTIONS (Part 2) - EXPLORE MORE FRACTIONS

Review the relationship of mixed numbers and improper fractions. Learn to create equivalent fractions and how they can be used for adding and subtracting fractions.

 

FRACTIONS (Part 3) - EXPLORE RECIPROCALS

Define reciprocals and why they matter. Explore how multiplying fractions work and why "keep-change-flip" is used when dividing fractions.

 

DECIMALS

Come learn about fractions and decimals. Explore place values and the relationship of changing fractions to decimals, or decimals to fractions.

 

PERCENTAGES

We'll wrap up fractions and decimals with percentages. Explore how percentages are a type of fraction, and strategies for quick calculations of percentages useful in real world examples.

 

NUMBER TALK

Let's wrap up by talking about all we have been learning in the last 5 weeks. Come bring questions and observations about fractions, decimals, and percentages as we play with and dialogue about how they can be useful.
